When accessing your Kanna account, click on 'Your User' followed by 'Password'. From there, enter your current password and then type in your desired new password, making sure to confirm it correctly. To ensure your account’s security, we recommend choosing a strong and unique password. Avoid using easily identifiable personal information and consider combining letters, numbers, and special characters. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Log in to your Kanna account and, once signed in, click on your user name in the top-right corner. Then select "Settings" and go to "Personal Information." At the bottom of the page, you will find the "Profile Image" section. Click on "Select Image" to choose your profile picture. You can only upload files in .jpg, .png, or .gif format, with a size of less than 10 MB.
Log in to your Kanna account and click on your user name in the top-right corner. Then select "Settings" and go to "Personal Information." In this section, you can update your general account details, such as First Name, Last Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Address, Country, State, and Phone Number.
There are two ways to invite other users to collaborate in a workspace: sharing a workspace at the time of its creation, or sharing an already existing workspace. In both cases, you need to select the "Shared" section when clicking "New Workspace" or "Edit," search for the user you want to share the workspace with, and choose whether the collaboration will be Read-Only or Read and Write.Read-Only allows the invited user to view the patents added to the workspace.Read and Write allows the invited user to add or remove patents in this workspace.
The three technology landscape tools in Kanna are interactive, allowing you to perform sub-searches by clicking on a category, year, or applicant of interest. These sub-searches are recorded in a hierarchical structure, displayed as follows:
Main search > Sub-search 1 > … > Sub-search nTo return to the main search or any previous level, simply click on the corresponding title within this structure.
In Kanna, you can create a workspace in two ways: from the "Workspaces" tool or from the "Add to Workspace" button on your platform after performing a search in Kanna.For the first method, access the "Workspaces" tool and then click on "New Workspace." For the second method, first perform a search in Kanna and select the patents of interest. Then click "Add to Workspace" and select "New Workspace."In both cases, a pop-up window will appear where you must enter a name for the new workspace. You can also choose whether the workspace will be Private or Shared. If the workspace is Private, only the user who created it can access it. If Shared, you can select a member of your institution (if applicable) and choose whether they can only view the patents added or also add new ones to the workspace.If the workspace was created from the search tool, the selected patents will be added to the new workspace, and you can continue browsing the search results.
This feature provides quick access to patents of interest during the search process and facilitates teamwork by allowing you to share this information with collaborators. You and your team can collaborate directly on the platform through shared work folders, where search results can be saved collectively for further analysis, keeping everything organized and accessible in one place.
With Kanna, you can perform highly customizable advanced searches. You can select keywords, apply Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT), define date ranges, and filter results specifically within patent databases from international offices such as USPTO, EPO, and JPO. All of this allows you to refine your search to obtain precise and relevant results.
Kanna offers multiple search methods designed to suit your needs. You can search by Exact Phrase to get precise matches, or use Keywords to broaden your reach and discover related information. Additionally, the platform supports Boolean Operators (AND, OR, NOT), allowing you to strategically combine and refine terms. These options provide the flexibility and precision needed to find key information within the extensive patent database that Kanna makes available to you.
Kanna categorizes your patent search results by category. This allows you to see a preliminary classification of your search and analyze which categories have the highest interest in protection. Additionally, the “Patents by Year” tool lets you track historically how the number of published patents matching your search has increased or decreased. Finally, the “Top Applicants” tool shows which applicants hold the most patents related to your search. All three features are interactive, allowing you to perform sub-searches by clicking on a category, year, or applicant of interest.
When performing a search in Kanna and reviewing patent results, you will find a variety of detailed information for each patent. This includes the patent title, patent number, application date, and publication date, allowing you to quickly identify the patents relevant to your needs. You will also see details about the patent applicant, which can help you assess the relevance and authorship of the invention.To gain a more complete understanding of each patent, we also provide an abstract summarizing the content and scope of the invention. You will have access to the full patent description, offering a more detailed view of its functionality and applications. The claims section, another important part, outlines the specific and unique aspects of the invention that are legally protected. Finally, the patent images provide a visual representation that can help you better understand the invention. Our intuitive interface allows you to easily interact with this information, making it simple to explore and comprehend each patent in the search results.

To do this, you first need to perform a search using the search tool, either by exact phrase, keywords, or Boolean operators. Once the search results of interest are displayed, click the "Add Watch" button. A "New Watch" window will open, where you will need to enter a name to identify your new automated watch. To access your watch results, go to the "Watch" feature, where you will see the newly created watch space. Please note that you may not see results immediately after creating the automated watch, as these results are added when the team updates the database with new patents.
